The Department of Organic and Physical Chemistry is committed to creating, transferring and spreading scientific knowledge in the areas of organic chemistry and physical chemistry.

Its mission is focused on the basic and specialized education of qualified professionals through teaching, research, extension, and external relationships, activities that align with the fundamental mission of the University of Chile and its faculty and according to the country’s needs.

The department heads the undergraduate courses that are common to the four degree programs in which the faculty and its academics paticipate. It also teaches graduate courses and engages in research activities in the areas of organic chemistry and physical chemistry.
